On Tuesday the 13th Feb, the water service will be lowered on Alfonsas Street, causing the street to be closed for most of the day and reopening on Wednesday the 14th Feb for normal traffic. It is hoped that the street reconstruction will commence in April, with work comprised of lowering of the surface of the road to get better drainage outcomes, along with kerbing and crossover installations. The Shire of Derby/West Kimberley's Aboriginal Environmental Health team attended the Mowanjum Community Event on Monday the 29th January, where they were recognised for outstanding achievement in the community. The team had a blast at the event, which had food, games, music and a cultural performance called Junba. We had new members of the team that got to meet everyone in the community and the team had our new bouncing castle up for the kids to jump on. The afternoon was an opportunity for organisations to touch base with the community and start the year off. What a great event!
