Local Planning Strategy

The Local Planning Strategy is the framework for local planning and the strategic basis for the local planning scheme. It provides the interface between State and regional policies, strategies, and strategic development initiatives, and local planning. It may also be used by other agencies as a means by which economic, resource management, environmental and social issues could be strategically addressed.

The Local Planning Strategy sets out medium to long term planning directions for the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley over the next 10 – 15 years. Planning officers consider the provisions of the Local Planning Strategy when assessing applications to use and develop land within the Shire.
