Shire of Derby/West Kimberley Local Planning Scheme No.9
The Shire of Derby/ West Kimberley has received a development application to use and/or develop land for the following purpose and public comments are invited.
Property Address: Lot 277 Great Northern Highway. Fitzroy Crossing 6765
Proposal: ‘Workforce Accommodation’ and ‘Tourist and Visitor Accommodation’ comprising of: 14 new tourist accommodation units, replacement of 20 existing tourist units with new units, 14 new staff accommodation units with an adjoining mess hall with laundry units for staff use only, and an additional 109 sealed car parking bays.
Date of Notice: 09/01/2025
The workforce accommodation component of the proposal is classified as “A” (Advertising) use within the Tourism Zone in accordance with the Use Class Table in Local Planning Scheme No.9. An “A” use means that the use is not permitted unless the local government has exercised its discretion by granting development approval after giving notice in accordance with clause 64 of the deemed provisions of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015.
Details of the proposal are attached including various supporting documentations and plans.
Comments on the proposal are now invited and can be emailed to sdwk@sdwk.wa.gov.au or posted to the Shire’s Acting Chief Executive Officer at PO Box 94 DERBY WA 6728 or alternatively, online by no later than 5pm on 23 January 2025.
All submissions must include the following information:
- Your name, address and contact telephone number;
- How your interests are affected; whether as a private citizen on behalf of a company or other organization, or as an owner or occupier of property;
- Address of property affected (if applicable); and,
- Whether your submission is in support of, or objecting to the proposal and provide any arguments supporting your comments
Please note that, submitted details including names and addresses may be made publicly available should the application be determined by Council, the Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel or another agency.
All submissions received may be made public at a Council meeting and included in a Council Agenda, which will be available on the Shire’s website, unless a submission specifically requests otherwise.
