The Shire of Derby/West Kimberley is thrilled to announce a unique public art opportunity for local and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artists to create two original sculptures for the Sculptures on the Marsh project. This initiative seeks to celebrate Derby's rich culture, history, and natural beauty by commissioning artworks that reflect our community’s spirit and landscape.

About the Project:

We are looking for flat steel plate sculptures, ranging from 4-10 meters in height or length, that will become iconic landmarks on the marsh. The sculptures should creatively incorporate the breathtaking Derby sunsets and represent our unique heritage and cultural stories.

Key Details:

- Total Project Budget: $24,500 ex GST
- Design Budget: Up to $5,000 for developing the final design
- Eligibility: Open to local and/or Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artists
- Submission Deadline: 5 PM (WST) Friday, 11 October 2024

Submission Process:

Artists are invited to submit their proposals, including a portfolio of previous work, a description of their cultural and creative approach, and a budget for the final design. The selected artists will work closely with the Shire and advisor Mark Norval to bring their vision to life.

How to Apply:
